Silver City Tours - Royal Flying Doctor Service (Tue & Fri)

Early last century, Flynn of the Inland dreamt of bringing medical help from the air to people in the vast Outback. Today, Flynn's dream is a vibrant reality, with 22 Flying Doctor Bases and 50 aircraft around Australia . The base at Broken Hill covers an area larger than England and Wales combined. It is the only working base in Australia where it is possible to see the entire operation in action, any day of the week.

Visitors are welcome to browse through the Mantle of Safety Museum, and view a ten minute film unique to this base. A guided tour then includes a description of the communications room and aero-medical activities conducted in a vast area extending from New South Wales into Queensland and South Australia . The tour concludes with a visit to the observation deck in the hangar where visitors can view the aircraft.

A souvenir shop is available with all proceeds, as well as admissions fees, going to support the vital work of this non profit organization whose services are available to all who live, work and travel throughout the great Australian Outback
