Day 1 Monday
Arrive in Broken Hill
You will be met by your Host from Silver City Tours and escorted to accommodation.
Day 2 – Tuesday: City Sights & Heritage, Broken Hill Mining Museum and Sunset Sculptures (LB)
Discover the stories behind Broken Hill, Australia’s first city to be included on the National Heritage List. Explore its distinctive architecture, mining heritage and colourful past before visiting the Miners’ Memorial, dramatically perched atop the Line of Lode with sweeping views across the city.
Continue to the Broken Hill Mining Museum, where an extraordinary collection of minerals, mining memorabilia and historic artefacts brings the story of the Silver City to life. After time to relax during the afternoon, travel to the Living Desert Sculptures and watch the setting sun transform the outback sky and sandstone artworks into a glowing palette of gold, crimson and ochre.
Day 3 – Wednesday: Rivers, Lakes & Outback Legends (LB, L)
Journey to the historic Darling River town of Menindee, where waterways, pioneering history and classic outback landscapes come together. Enjoy morning tea beside the peaceful waters of Copi Hollow before tracing the footsteps of Burke and Wills and hearing stories of their time in the region.
Lunch is served at the historic Maidens Hotel, a Menindee landmark filled with country character. Afterwards, venture into Kinchega National Park, where majestic river red gums line the Darling and the vast landscape reveals stories of pastoral life, Aboriginal heritage and the ever-changing Menindee Lakes system.
Touring within Kinchega National Park is subject to weather and road conditions.
Day 4 – Thursday: Mines, Movies & Outback Flavours (LB, D)
Venture beyond Broken Hill to historic Daydream Mine, where you may choose an underground tour through original workings dating back to 1881 or enjoy a surface experience. Hear fascinating stories of the early miners and the challenging conditions they endured.
Continue to Silverton, the legendary ghost town established before Broken Hill. Enjoy lunch at your own expense at the iconic Silverton Hotel, then explore the town’s heritage buildings, museums, galleries and quirky shops. Discover Silverton’s rich screen history, with its rugged landscapes featuring in numerous Australian films and television productions, and take in the sweeping views across the spectacular Mundi Mundi Plains.
This evening, enjoy an included dinner and warm outback hospitality at the Tipsy Camel, located within Broken Hill’s historic Waverley Brewery.
Day 5 – Friday: Flying Doctors, Outback Art & Priscilla Pride (LB, D)
Visit the Broken Hill base of the Royal Flying Doctor Service and discover how Reverend John Flynn’s vision of a “mantle of safety” became one of Australia’s most respected organisations. Learn how its dedicated teams continue delivering vital healthcare across the vast outback.
This afternoon, explore Broken Hill’s flourishing artistic heart at the Pro Hart Gallery before experiencing The Big Picture at the Silver City Mint & Art Centre. Created by artist Peter Anderson, this breathtaking panoramic artwork surrounds visitors with the landscapes, wildlife and vivid colours of the region.
Complete the day with a tour and included dinner at the iconic Palace Hotel, made famous by The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. Afterwards, enjoy the rare opportunity to experience the lively outback tradition of two-up.
Day 6 Saturday (LB)
